MSC

The Jack Mackerel industrial fishery in the Third to Tenth Regions of Chile received certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) on April 26, 2019, through Lloyd’s Register, an independent agency. This seal warrants the sustainability, traceability and use of the best practices by Chile.

MSC CHAIN OF CUSTODY

The MSC Chain of Custody Standard warrants the traceability of products from sustainable fisheries certified by MSC. It guarantees that they have been separated from uncertified products.

GLUTEN-FREE

This guarantees consumers that our products have met the requirements set by Convivir to identify and determine that the product is suitable for people suffering from celiac disease.

BRC

The BRC standard is a world standard for food safety created by the British Retail Consortium. It was created for the dual purpose of, on the one hand, ensuring compliance by suppliers and, on the other, giving retailers a tool to warrant the quality and safety of the food products they sell. Today this standard is considered to be an international benchmark for the certification of suppliers of products and brands on large markets.

The BRC management system provides a framework to manage the safety, authenticity, quality and legality of products and the operating controls of those elements in the manufacture, processing and packaging of food and food ingredients.

The BRC certification demonstrates our commitment to implementing control systems that will identify any hazard or threat against the safety, authenticity, quality and legality of the food we produce. The Fish Cannery and Added-Value Frozen Fish plants currently hold BRCv8 certification.

MARINTRUST

This certification guarantees our responsible practices in the production of fishmeal and fish oil. The MarinTrust standard warrants the following:

There is no catching or processing of illegal, unregulated and undeclared fish.

Raw materials used in the production of ocean ingredients come from responsibly managed fisheries.

Efficient practices in the production of ocean ingredients to reduce the environmental impact of the fishmeal and fish oil production process.

The safe manufacture of ocean ingredients through Good Manufacturing Practices.

Effective traceability systems to guarantee that ocean ingredients meeting the MarinTrust requirements can be traced to the MarinTrust-approved fishery.

Protection of social rights and the wellbeing of employees in the ocean ingredient production centers.

MarinTrust certification is received after rigorous audits of the factories and evaluations of the fisheries and it is maintained through annual re-certification audits.

IFS certification

In 2021 we achieved the IFS certification with the “Higher Level” degree. It is a food safety standard recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which focuses on the safety and food quality of processed products. It certifies that food production is carried out guaranteeing the safety of food and the safety of commercialized products.

Our Safety and Quality Management System follows the HACCP, internationally recognized to guarantee food safety.

The HACCP system is based on science, and it is systematic so as to identify specific hazards and measures for their control. It is an instrument that is vital in evaluating the hazards and establishing control systems centered on prevention instead of relying mainly on a test of the end product.

Our Safety and Quality Management System has been implanted in all our national facilities and it is audited and verified by independent certification agencies to guarantee food safety, in compliance with the quality standards benefitting our consumers.
